Cosmopolitan University and IWMI Strengthen Partnership on Climate-Smart Agriculture and Water Systems

The Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA), Cosmopolitan University Abuja, has strengthened its collaboration with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) following a courtesy visit aimed at deepening cooperation on sustainable agriculture and water management.
The delegation, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Carl Adams, and the CEO of CCSA, Dr. Rislan Kanya, was received by IWMI representatives, including the Nigeria focal person, Charity Osei-Amponsah, and Dr. Adebayo Oke.
Discussions focused on key areas of mutual interest, including sustainable water and irrigation systems, climate-smart agriculture innovation and scaling, water governance, and the use of digital tools such as remote sensing for natural resource assessment.
Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing climate resilience, strengthening water security, and promoting sustainable food systems across Nigeria and the wider region.
This engagement builds on Dr. Adebayo’s recent participation in Cosmopolitan University’s national workshop on Climate-Smart and Digital Agriculture, which convened key stakeholders to co-develop solutions for Nigeria’s agricultural transformation agenda.
CCSA expressed its commitment to further deepening collaboration with IWMI through joint initiatives, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building programmes.
