The Digital Citizenship Campaign Africa (DCCA) paid a courtesy visit to the Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA), Cosmopolitan University, Abuja, on 9 December 2025, to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration in digital literacy, youth empowerment, climate-smart agriculture, innovation, and sustainable development.

The visit brought together representatives of both organisations for an engagement focused on identifying areas of mutual interest and strengthening institutional collaboration around initiatives that can contribute to the development and empowerment of young people across Africa.

The DCCA delegation was received by Dr. Rislan Abdulazeez Kanya, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Cosmopolitan University, Abuja, and Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA), alongside Dr. Badaru Yahaya Usman, Chief Scientific Officer, CCSA.

The delegation was led by Hyellapasalim Daniel, Founder and Executive Director of DCCA, accompanied by Olisakwe Blessing Ogechukwu, Operations Manager, Digital Citizenship Campaign Africa.

Advancing Digital and Climate-Smart Development

Discussions during the engagement centred on the growing intersection between digital citizenship, technology, agriculture, and climate action. Both organisations recognised the importance of equipping young people with the knowledge, digital competencies, and practical opportunities required to participate meaningfully in an increasingly digital and climate-conscious economy.

The engagement further highlighted the potential of digital technologies to support innovation in agriculture, strengthen access to knowledge and opportunities, promote responsible digital participation, and advance climate-smart solutions for sustainable development.

Particular attention was given to the role of youth in driving innovation and contributing to solutions that address emerging challenges in agriculture, climate change, education, and the digital economy.

Recognition of Dr. Rislan Abdulazeez Kanya

A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of a Certificate of Honorary Ambassadorial Role to Dr. Rislan Abdulazeez Kanya by Digital Citizenship Campaign Africa.

The recognition acknowledged his leadership and commitment to youth development and digital empowerment, as well as his support for initiatives aligned with the objectives and mission of DCCA.

The presentation further underscored the importance of leadership and institutional support in advancing initiatives that create opportunities for young people and promote responsible and inclusive participation in the digital space.

Exploring Areas of Institutional Collaboration

The visit also provided a platform for DCCA and CCSA to explore potential areas of collaboration, including youth empowerment, digital education, climate-smart agriculture, research, innovation, capacity development, and knowledge exchange.

Both organisations expressed interest in exploring practical initiatives that can leverage their respective expertise and networks to develop programmes capable of delivering meaningful impact, particularly among young people.

Such collaboration has the potential to connect digital skills and responsible technology use with emerging opportunities in agriculture, climate action, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
