CCSA Visits CDA to Seek Support for Establishing Faculty of Climate-Smart Agriculture

The Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA), Cosmopolitan University, Abuja, recently paid a strategic visit to the Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA), Bayero University, Kano, to seek technical guidance and support in establishing a Faculty of Climate-Smart Agriculture at Cosmopolitan University. Earlier in October, the National Universities Commission (NUC) conducted a resource verification exercise for the proposed faculty.
During the visit, Professor Murtala Badamasi, Training Coordinator and Professor of Plant & Biogeography, along with Dr. Hakeem and Mrs. Kakudi, conducted a comprehensive facility tour for the CCSA team, showcasing state-of-the-art laboratories, cutting-edge demonstration farms, and research facilities.
The tour provided an opportunity for CCSA to learn from CDA’s extensive experience in dryland agriculture research, practical training, and climate-smart agricultural practices.
The engagement reinforced CCSA’s commitment to leveraging partnerships with leading agricultural research institutions to build capacity, promote innovation, and establish a world-class faculty that will advance climate-smart agriculture education and research in Nigeria.
Notably, the Director of CDA, Professor Gaya, and Professor Badamasi had previously visited CCSA in Abuja on 4th November, further strengthening collaboration and knowledge exchange. During the visit, CCSA and CDA agreed to deepen their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise joint efforts in research, technology transfer, capacity building and innovation in climate-smart agriculture.
