The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to thank the Emir for his warm reception, encouragement, and support. The team also reflected on its earlier interaction with the traditional ruler on the first day of the visit and acknowledged the important role of traditional institutions in promoting community participation and sustainable agricultural development.
The delegation was led by Dr. Badaru Yahaya Usman, Chief Scientific Officer of the Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture, Cosmopolitan University Abuja.
CCSA Visits Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa
The CCSA team travelled from Abuja to Gombe State to engage with the management of the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa (FCHDK), on opportunities for strategic collaboration in climate-smart agriculture, digital agricultural innovation, research, and capacity development.
The engagement focused on strengthening cooperation between the two institutions and exploring practical ways to promote agricultural education, technological innovation, and sustainable farming practices.
A major component of the proposed collaboration is a six-month Climate-Smart Agriculture Internship Programme expected to engage more than 2,000 students. The programme is designed to provide practical training in agricultural data collection, field research, digital agriculture, data analysis, and the use of emerging technologies in farming.
The initiative also aims to generate useful agricultural data and research findings to support farmers, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders in making informed decisions. Outstanding participants may also have opportunities to serve as Digital Agriculture System Agents, supporting digital agricultural services, irrigation, agricultural extension, and improved market access for farming communities.
The proposed partnership reflects CCSA’s commitment to equipping young people with practical skills and promoting technology-driven approaches to agricultural development.
