CCSA Leads Delegation to TAAT, Driving Agricultural Innovation

The Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA) recently facilitated a high-impact study visit to the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) in Cotonou, Benin Republic. The delegation included members of the Jigawa State Government’s Technology and Innovation Village Committee and select large-scale farmers partnered with CCSA.
TAAT, supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB), provides scalable agricultural technologies to boost productivity, resilience, and food security across Africa. During the visit, the team explored TAAT’s innovation platforms and visited large-scale farming clusters in Parakou, Malanville, Cotonou, and surrounding regions, gaining practical insights into technology adoption, agribusiness operations, and youth-focused agriculture models.
On the visit, Dr. Solomon Giza Assefa, TAAT Coordinator, expressed his happiness and commitment to support the delegation, emphasizing the platform’s readiness to assist in scaling agricultural innovations in Nigeria. Looking ahead, the delegation is scheduled to return to TAAT in January 2026 for a collaborative workshop, aimed at scaling their ongoing farming practices and addressing challenges posed by the climate crisis.
This engagement reinforces CCSA’s role in connecting Nigerian farmers, government agencies, and private partners to regional innovation hubs. Insights from the visit will inform the development of Jigawa’s Technology and Innovation Village and guide large-scale farmers in advancing a sustainable, tech-driven, and climate-smart agricultural ecosystem.
