A partnership between Cosmopolitan University Abuja’s Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CUA-CCSA), Tamallan Foundation, Iya Foundation, Mariya Foundation, Audu Bako College of Agriculture, and Danbatta-Makoda Microfinance Bank Ltd. has launched a pioneering Certificate Programme in Digital and Climate-Smart Agriculture (DCRA) on June 9, 2025.
The programme marks a significant milestone in advancing sustainable agricultural transformation in Nigeria and beyond. It is designed to equip a new generation of agripreneurs with digital, technical, and entrepreneurial skills to build resilience in food production systems amid climate change challenges.
Spanning twelve months, the DCRA programme blends classroom learning, practical field experience, and innovation-driven mentorship. Participants begin with mindset reorientation and foundational modules in basic agriculture, business management, and sustainable development before advancing to intensive training on precision agriculture, artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data analytics, irrigation management, and soil and moisture optimisation. The final stage involves full-scale farming internships and cooperative learning within agricultural clusters, allowing participants to apply digital and climate-resilient practices on the field.
Graduates will receive ongoing mentorship and access to financing opportunities to help them scale their agribusiness ventures. Through this initiative, CUA-CCSA and its partners aim to cultivate a new ecosystem of digitally skilled, climate-resilient farmers capable of transforming Nigeria’s agricultural landscape, driving food security, and promoting sustainable rural development.
