The Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA), Cosmopolitan University Abuja, led by its CEO, Dr Rislan Kanya, alongside Dr Badaru Yahaya, Chief Scientific Officer, and Dr Gidado, Head of Research, Innovation and Grantsmanship, participated in the high level stakeholder workshop “Scaling Climate-Resilient Irrigation: Partnership Alignment, Coordinated Pathways, and Learning in Nigeria.”

The workshop, organised by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), brought together key stakeholders to strengthen partnerships, coordinate investment and innovation, and develop practical pathways for scaling climate-resilient irrigation, Farmer Led Irrigation Develop (FLID) and improving water productivity for farmers in Nigeria.

CCSA extended the invitation to its strategic partners, A-Solar, represented by its Chairman, Mr Hakeem Shagaya, and Offgrid Electric, represented by its CEO, Engr Khalis. Both companies are among Nigeria’s leading off-grid energy providers and partner with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) under projects supported by the African Development Bank and the World Bank.

CCSA is exploring a strategic partnership with both companies to advance the productive use of renewable energy, with solar-powered irrigation as the first phase, helping farmers access reliable, affordable and climate-resilient energy for agricultural production.
