In a remarkable recognition of innovation and research excellence, Dr. Rislana Abdulazeez Kanya, CEO of the Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA) at Cosmopolitan University, has received Outstanding Presentation Award at the 2025 IEEE International Humanitarian Technology Conference (IHTC) held at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

Dr. Kanya’s award-winning presentation, titled “Advancing Climate-Smart Agriculture in Nigeria: Using Hyperspectral and Remote Sensing Technologies to Bridge Mechanisation and Smallholder Farming in Jigawa State,” was featured under the Energy, Water, and Climate Solutions Track. His presentation showcased an ongoing cutting-edge approach designed to enhance food security, sustainability and technology adoption among smallholder farmers in Nigeria.

The recognition underscores CCSA’s leadership in leveraging advanced technologies to address global agricultural challenges. Through the integration of hyperspectral imaging and remote sensing, the Centre is pioneering data-driven solutions to improve productivity, promote sustainable land use and strengthen the resilience of farming systems in Jigawa State and across Nigeria.
