The Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA), Cosmopolitan University, Abuja, Nigeria, is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UDDOG O UDDOKTA JAPAN ASSOCIATION (UUJP) on 10 September 2026 in Tokyo, Japan.

The strategic partnership marks a significant step towards strengthening Japan–Nigeria collaboration in climate-smart agriculture, agri-entrepreneurship, research, innovation, entrepreneurship development, capacity building, consulting, and sustainable community development.

Built on a shared commitment to turning knowledge and innovation into practical solutions, the partnership will bring together the complementary strengths, expertise, networks, and resources of both organisations to address emerging challenges and create meaningful opportunities for entrepreneurs, farmers, young people, and communities.

Connecting Research, Innovation and Action

A central objective of the partnership is to strengthen the connection between research and real-world implementation.

CCSA will contribute its extensive field-level experience, agricultural networks, implementation capacity, and community engagement, while UUJP will contribute expertise in research, entrepreneurship education, capacity development, managerial improvement, consulting, impact assessment, reporting, and international collaboration.

Through this collaboration, both organisations will pursue practical initiatives designed to generate measurable impact. Initial areas of cooperation will include joint research programmes, entrepreneurship bootcamps, training, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building initiatives, with the partnership expected to expand progressively based on evidence, experience, and results.

Supporting the Next Generation of Agri-Entrepreneurs

Looking ahead, CCSA and UUJP will also explore the establishment of a Social Business Fund for Agri-Entrepreneurs. The proposed initiative is intended to provide a sustainable mechanism for supporting promising agricultural entrepreneurs and community-based enterprises while encouraging innovation, job creation, enterprise development, and inclusive economic opportunities.

The partnership also provides a platform for strengthening international knowledge exchange and creating new connections between research institutions, entrepreneurs, agricultural communities, development actors, and international networks.

A Shared Commitment to Sustainable Impact

The signing of the MoU represents the beginning of a long-term partnership between Japan and Nigeria, with a broader vision of contributing to a more resilient, innovative, and sustainable future.

By combining CCSA’s field-level agricultural and climate expertise with UUJP’s research, entrepreneurship, management, and international collaboration capabilities, the partnership seeks to move beyond dialogue towards practical initiatives that can deliver lasting value to communities and entrepreneurs.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Forhad Hossain, Founder & President, UDDOG O UDDOKTA JAPAN ASSOCIATION (UUJP), and Dr. Rislan Abdulazeez Kanya, Founder/CEO, Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA), Cosmopolitan University, Abuja, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Cosmopolitan University, Abuja.

This collaboration reflects a shared belief that meaningful and sustainable development is strengthened when research, entrepreneurship, climate action, education, and community-level implementation work together.

CCSA looks forward to building on this partnership and working with UUJP to develop innovative initiatives that contribute to climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship development, and inclusive economic opportunities in Nigeria and beyond.
