The Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA), Cosmopolitan University, and the Organic Agriculture Foundation of Nigeria (OAFN) have strengthened their commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture in Nigeria through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The signing, held on 13 April 2026, marks an important milestone in the relationship between both organisations and reflects a shared commitment to building a more sustainable, resilient, and climate-responsive agricultural sector in Nigeria.

The partnership grew from a series of conversations and engagements around some of the most important issues affecting the future of agriculture, including climate resilience, sustainability, innovation, resource efficiency, and responsible farming practices.

For CCSA and OAFN, the partnership represents more than a formal agreement. It is a shared commitment to work together, learn from one another, and develop practical solutions that can create meaningful impact for farmers, communities, and the wider agricultural sector.

CCSA continues to promote climate-smart agriculture through innovation, sustainability, climate adaptation and mitigation, and the responsible use of agricultural resources. OAFN brings strong experience and commitment to promoting organic and regenerative agriculture in Nigeria.

Through this partnership, both organisations will work together to:

• Promote sustainable and environmentally responsible farming practices;
• Strengthen the knowledge, skills, and resilience of farmers;
• Support climate-responsive and sustainable food systems;
• Promote innovation and efficient use of agricultural resources; and
• Strengthen institutional and technical capacity for organic and climate-smart agriculture.

The MoU signing brought together key leaders and representatives from both organisations. The National President of OAFN, Mr. Joseph Ali, and the National Coordinator, Dr. Munzali Dayyabu, were present at the ceremony.

Representing CCSA were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Cosmopolitan University and Founder/CEO of the Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture, Dr. Rislan Abdulazeez Kanya, and Dr. Gidado M. J., Head of Research, Innovation and Grantmanship, CCSA.

The presence of these leaders reflects the importance both organisations place on collaboration and the need to bring together knowledge, experience, innovation, and shared purpose to address the challenges facing agriculture and the environment.

For CCSA, this partnership is another step towards its broader vision of supporting climate-smart agricultural development and contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

The Centre believes that meaningful change is stronger when people and institutions work together. Through this partnership with OAFN, CCSA looks forward to creating opportunities for knowledge sharing, innovation, capacity building, and practical action that can contribute to a more resilient agricultural sector across Nigeria.

The signing of the MoU therefore marks not the end of a conversation, but the beginning of a new chapter of collaboration between CCSA and OAFN.
